In recent\nyears the toxic mixture of hate speech, fake news and \u201calternative facts\u201d has\nincreasingly been affecting the discourse in the online public sphere, and this\nphenomenon is posing a serious threat to democratic societies. So far debate\nand research on hateful content have mostly focused on potentially illegal\nstatements. Deceitful narratives, however, reach far beyond the legal realm and\nthe fight against misleading messages, often delivered in a sophisticated way requires\ncomplex approaches and creative solutions. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of\nthe roundtable is to explore how to deal with hateful content and share\nexamples by different actors, such as representatives from academia, civil\nsociety and the media. The event is held as part of the multi-country project\ncalled Get the Trolls Out! <\/em>https:\/\/www.getthetrollsout.org<\/em><\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
